Mac Os For Dell Inspiron 1525

The Inspiron 1525 is a laptop designed and distributed by Dell as part of their Inspiron range. There is also an AMD variant known as the Inspiron 1526. The laptop is the successor to the Inspiron 1520, and was released in January, 2008.This computer was available to purchase on the Dell website, where it could be customized to the user's specification. Dell Inspiron 1525. Your GPU (GMA X3100) only supports up to Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. (elementary os comes to mind if you like the style of macOS). It still has official support for your gpu and probably will have it for quite a few years to come.

Use working Snow or Lion OS X to perform the following steps:
  • Create lionUSBinstaller stick per my guide here
  • Download hackintosh_dell_1525_10.7.0_v3.6.zip package and extract it to your desktop.
  • Start Terminal (Application > Utilities > Terminal)
Become root:
sudo -s
cd Desktop/hackintosh*
Run installation script
./installer
Select lionUSBinstaller
Select 'Prepare lionUSBstick' option
Wait for the installer to finish
Use Dell Inspiron 1525 to perform the following steps:
  • Adjust BIOS setting:
Maintenance > Load Defaults > Continue
Verify SATA is configured for AHCI:
Onboard Devices > SATA Operation
Verify SpeedStep is Enabled
Performance > SpeedStep Enable

If you have a DELL Inspiron 1525 laying somewhere, not being used or even being used for every day use, THIS IS the MAC OSX Installation YOU NEED.

So let us begin.

  • What to expect

Please note that this installation is nearly PERFECT ( if not PERFECT ).

What works:

      Requirements for successful installation
  • Laptop:

    Dell Inspiron 1525 BIOS version A17

  • Processor:

    Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 1.66 GHz

  • Memory: 3GB [2GB + 1GB(Graphics)]
  • Hard Drive: Toshiba 250 GB SATA MK2546GSX
  • CD/DVD drive: Hitachi 8x DVD +/-RW GSA-T21N
  • Graphics: Intel Mobile X3100 GM965/GL960 Integrated 1280×800 resolution
  • Audio: Sigmatel STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio
  • Modem: HDA CX11270 Soft Modem
  • FireWire: Ricoh 1394a OHCI
LAN: Marvell Yukon 88E8040 10/100 Ethernet Controller
Bluetooth: Dell 355 Bluetooth Module
( If your bios version is not A17 you will need to update it. Don’t worry, just continue reading )
  • Before Installation
  • Update your bios. (Download update executable from: (http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/driverdetails?driverid=R246843) )
    • WITH WINDOWS just run it.
    • Reboot ( You are ready. )
    • WITH FREEDOS ( TESTED )
      • Download ‘Bootable USB Drive Creator Tool 1.0′:(http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Bootable-USB-Drive-Creator-Tool-Download-179880.html )
      • Make a bootable freeDOS USB
      • Copy downloaded executable into USB’s root
      • Then reboot
      • On the Dell Logo press F12
      • Then select boot from USB
      • Type ‘dir’ to ensure you see ’1525_A17.exe’. If you do, you’re ready to update the BIOS. If you don’t, then you did something wrong. Repeat the above steps.
      • Type 1525_A17.EXE
    • WITH FREEDOS ( UNTESTED )
      • Follow instructions from: (http://chtaube.eu/computers/freedos/bootable-usb/)
      • Copy downloaded executable into USB’s root
      • Then reboot
      • On the Dell Logo press F12
      • Then select boot from USB
      • Type ‘dir’ to ensure you see ’1525_A17.exe’. If you do, you’re ready to update the BIOS. If you don’t, then you did something wrong. Repeat the above steps.
      • Type 1525_A17.EXE

Download and Save needed files:

    • Download 10.6.8 Combo Update (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399)
    • Download Needed Files (http://cl.ly/7wpJ)
    • Donwload a file for restart ( )
    • Download a file for wireless (http://www.osx86.net/view/173-bcm94312mcg.html)
    • Download Bootloader ( http://cl.ly/2C343P3t3A301s0e1807 )
    • Download Kext Helper Utility (https://code.google.com/p/g60jx-hackintosh/downloads/detail?name=Kext%20Helper%20b7.zip&can=2&q=%22)
    • Burn 10.6.8 Update to a dvd with needed files. ( or you can download them from the installed OS over ethernet if it works out of the box )
    • Burn the Bootloader to a cd.
  • Installation
  • BIOS Settings
    • Load default settings:
      • Maintenance > Load Defaults > Continue
    • Verify SATA is configured for AHCI:
      • Onboard Devices > SATA Operation
    • Verify SpeedStep is Enabled
      • Performance > SpeedStep Enable
  • Installation Process ( +Post Installation )
    • Power on the Dell, insert Boot Dell DVD and once you see the DELL logo quickly press F12.
    • Select boot from CD/DVD and wait for it to show availiable devices.
    • Open DVD drive and insert OSX installation DVD.
    • Wait (2o – 30 seconds to spin) and type F5.
    • Select the new OSX Installation DVD.
    • Once you get to the welcome screen select Utilities -> Disk Utility then partition your disk with MBR partition scheme.
    • Select the installation partition and start installation.
    • Wait for the installation to finish and insert again Boot Dell DVD.
    • On the DELL Logo type again F12.
    • Select again Boot from CD/DVD.
    • Then choose the OSX Installation disk.
    • Backup on your desktop your old trackpad.prefpane which is located in /System/Library/Preference Panes.
    • Insert the cd with the files.
    • !!!ATTENTION HERE!!! Install 10.6.8 update and dont press restart.
    • Navigate to your cd and copy the needed files on your desktop.
    • Open up terminal and type:

cd /Desktop/hackintosh*

./installer

Select installation disk and type i for automatic installation.

  • ONE MORE THING:
    • You need to fix the wireless now. So open up kext helper utility and drag & drop the file for the wireless.
    • Start the process and wait. ( You need to type password )
  • FINALY!!!! 🙂
    • Click spotlight, type Disk Utility, open it up, then select installation disk, repair permissions.
    • THEN hit restart.

Now, if you press restart and the OS hangs for much time, then you should install another file with the following instructions:

  • Insert cd with needed files.
  • Copy file for restart to your desktop.
  • Then click on spotlight
  • Type terminal
  • In terminal type:
    • sudo -s
    • cp -R ~/Desktop/OpenHaltRestart.kext /Extra/Extensions
  • Then reboot

CONGRATULATIONS -> Now you have an ULTIMATE SUPER COMPATIBLE and of course AFFORDABLE hackintosh!!!!

OSX seems solid and so powerfull. I can still run nearly any application I like and everything is smooth and lighning fast.
